1:-Digital cameras

Canon has been manufacturing and distributing digital cameras since 1984, starting with the RC-701. The RC series was followed by the PowerShot and Digital IXUS series of digital cameras. Canon also developed the EOS series of digital single-lens reflex cameras (DSLR) which includes high-end professional models.

Canon have recently implicated Thermal Transition Copying as a part of the manufacturing process for all new cameras being produced by canon. This manufacturing process allows a camera's polymer casing to very slightly change temperature through an exothermic reaction triggered by electronic sensors, to assist in the prevention of condensation inside the camera; a common problem experienced when using an SLR camera in certain conditions.

Canon PowerShot

The PowerShot products are a line of consumer and prosumer grade, launched by Canon in 1995. The PowerShot line has been successful for Canon, and is one of the best-selling digital camera lines worldwide.
Free software from the Canon Hack Development Kit (CHDK) project allows nearly complete programmatic control of PowerShot cameras, enabling users to add features, up to and including BASIC & Lua scripting.[1]
Some models of Powershot cameras were affected by third party CCD sensors with a design flaw which caused them to fail and display severely distorted images. Canon has offered to repair affected cameras free of charge.

Products

Current
  • A series: "Easy and Fun" budget cameras ranging from point-and-shoot to prosumer cameras
  • D series: waterproof, freeze- and shock-resistant
  • E series: design-oriented budget cameras
  • G series: flagship cameras with advanced features
  • S/SD series (also known as PowerShot Digital ELPH,Digital IXUS and IXY Digital): "Performance and Style" ultracompact point-and-shoot cameras
  • S/SX series: ultra-zoom cameras
  • S series: originally a series of compact point-and-shoot cameras, currently a series of prosumer cameras slotting beneath the G series

Canon PowerShot G

The Canon PowerShot G is a series of digital camerasreleased by Canon. The G series cameras are Canon's flagship 'compact' models aimed at prosumer photography enthusiasts desiring more flexibility than a point-and-shoot without the bulk of a digital single-lens reflex camera.
The G series offers features such as the use of a lithium-ion battery, a flip-out-and-twist LCD (all models except G7, G9 and G10 which have a fixed screen), Raw image formatcapture (all models except G7), a lens with a wider maximum aperture than standard PowerShot models, remote capture (except G11), and faster electronics. The range also includes a hot shoe for an external flashgun, including Canon's EX range.

Canon Digital IXUS

The Digital IXUS (IXY Digital in Japan andPowerShot Digital ELPH in US and Canada) is a series of digital cameras released by Canon. It is a line of ultracompact cameras, originally based on the design of Canon's IXUS/IXY/ELPH line of APS cameras.
Canon's PowerShot A and S line of the time were being made as small as contemporary technology allowed,[1] and demonstrated the demand for a small digital camera of good quality. Canon used its experience with small film cameras, particularly the APS IXUS, to mass-produce good digital cameras smaller than anyone else had managed up to the time (the first Digital IXUS was the smallest 2MP then available[2]) and reused the popular IXUS/IXY/ELPH brand name with the tag line "The DIGITAL IXUS blends Canon's award-winning IXUS design with PowerShot digital technology."[3]
The first Digital IXUS, released in June 2000 fitted the technology of the PowerShot S10 into a body similar to the APS IXUS II.[4] Between 2003 and 2004, starting with the Digital IXUS II, Canon moved from the use of CF cards to SD cards to create thinner cameras.

Canon EOS

The Canon EOS (Electro-Optical Systemautofocus 35 mm filmand digital SLR camera system was introduced in 1987 with theCanon EOS 650 and is still in production as Canon's current DSLRsystem. The acronym EOS was chosen for Eos, the TitanGoddess of dawn in Greek mythology, and is often pronounced as a word (i.e., EE-oss), although some spell out the letters, reading it as an initialism.
It competes primarily with the Nikon F series and its successors, as well as autofocus SLR systems from Olympus CorporationPentaxSony/Minolta, and Panasonic/Leica. Between 2006 and 2008, Canon's market share in DSLR cameras decreased from nearly 50% worldwide to near-parity withNikon DSLRs, at 38% and 37%, respectively.[1]
At the heart of the system is the EF lens mount, which replaced the previous FD lens mount.

Canon EF lens mount

First introduced in 1987, the EF lens mount is the standard lens mount on the Canon EOS family of SLR film and digital cameras. EF stands for "Electro-Focus": automatic focusing on EF lenses is handled by a dedicated electric motor built into the lens. Mechanically, it is abayonet-style mount, and all communication between camera and lens takes place through electrical contacts; there are no mechanical levers or plungers.
In 2003, Canon introduced the EF-S lens mount, a derivative of the EF mount that is strictly for digital EOS cameras with a 1.6x crop released after 2003. EF lenses can be mounted on EF-S bodies, albeit with cropped image, while EF-S lenses cannot be mounted on EF bodies.
